To the “Usual” Place Even in an “Emergency” This citizen’s community center for fostering communications through sports and cultural activities serves as an emergency shelter that can accommodate 10,000 people. Furniture is equipped with functions (such as obtaining/conveying information, carrying things, lighting, staying, planting, and sitting), allowing users to customize and adjust flexibly depending on situations. The community center in normal times transforms into a place to support each other at a time of crisis. The architecture, sign, and lighting designs were developed with motifs of “light, water, trees, and sunshine filtering through foliage,” which were extracted from the abundant nature of Kamisu. We aimed to create a new activity base for citizens, which would be a beloved “usual place” for them to regularly gather, relax, and become full of life.

「もしも」のときも「いつも」のところへ スポーツ・文化を通じて新たな交流を生み出す市民の憩いの場は、災害時に１万人収容可能な防災施設となる。家具には「知る・知らせる・運ぶ・光る・集まる・こもる・しまう・植える・座る・遊ぶ」などの機能が付加されており、使う人自らがカスタマイズし、状況に応じて多様なアレンジが可能なものとすることで、平常時の賑わいの場が、災害時の助け合いになる場にかわるための仕掛けとした。建築・サイン・照明デザインは、神栖の豊かな自然から抽出した「光・水・木々・木漏れ日」をモチーフに展開することで、市民が愛着を持ち、新たな活動拠点として日常的に集い、憩い、賑わう「いつものところ」となるように目指した。
