Makino Rehabilitation Hospital

Rehabilitation on the go A design of a hospital aiming for patients’ quick discharge and recovery. Many mechanisms to make rehabilitation possible anywhere in the facility were implemented.
The core wall invites patients to go on nature excursions, a motivation for walking training.On the core wall, the changing seasons were expressed with rhythmical graphic motifs representing each season such as cherry blossoms and maple leaves, to feel the natural wind and sound.The medical wards were also designed to feel close to nature during rehabilitation to stimulate the desire to be able to walk outdoors again.

患者の早期在宅復帰を⽬指した病院のデザイン。病院内のどの場所でも積極的にリハビリテーションができるような仕掛けを設けた。⾃然を感じられる回遊性のあるコアウォールが、患者の歩⾏訓練等の前向きなリハビリを促す。コアウォールの四⾯には春夏秋冬の季節の移ろいを表現し、⾃然の⾵や⾳が感じられるように、その季節を代表する桜や紅葉等のモチーフをグラフィックでリズミカルにプロットした。病棟内においても、随所で⾃然や四季を感じながらリハビリができる空間とし、少しでも早く⾃⽴して外を歩きたいという復帰への前向きな気持ちを促す計画とした。
